CREAM shortening, sugar and eggs together until light and fluffy; STIR in buttermilk.

SIFT together flour, soda, baking powder, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg; STIR into creamed mixture.
3.
STIR in oats, raisins, and nuts.
4.
On a lightly greased cookie sheet, DROP tablespoonsful two inches apart.
5.
BAKE 350F for eight to ten minutes; COOL slightly; REMOVE to rack.
