In a small skillet, SAUTE pecans in butter and garlic over medium-low heat, STIRRING constantly, until lightly browned, about five minutes; COOL.

PREPARE dressing (see below).
3.
Just prior to serving, TEAR lettuce into bite-sized pieces.
4.
TOP lettuce with onion rings, oranges, and pecan mix.
