Thoroughly CREAM shortening, sugar, orange peel and vanilla.

ADD egg; BEAT until fluffy; STIR in milk.

MIX flour, baking powder, salt; BLEND into shortening mix.
4.
DIVIDE dough in half; CHILL one hour.
5.
On floured surface, ROLL half of dough at a time until 1/8 inch thick (keep remaining dough chilled until ready to roll).
6.
CUT into shapes; BAKE on greased cookie sheet at 350F for six to eight minutes.
7.
COOL slightly; REMOVE from pan.
