In a large mixing bowl, COMBINE flour, sugar, cherries, baking powder and salt; MAKE a well in center of mixture.

COMBINE milk, oil, juice and egg; STIR into dry ingredients until just moistened.
3.
SPOON mixture into a greased muffin tin, filling about 2/3 full.
4.
COMBINE almonds and sugar; SPRINKLE over muffins.
5.
sBAKE at 375F until done, about 25-30 minutes.
