PREHEAT oven to 350°.

DRAIN syrup from can; RESERVE; PLACE yams in a shallow baking dish.

In a saucepan over medium heat, COMBINE sugar and butter with reserved syrup; bring to a BOIL, STIRRING until thickened.
4.
POUR sauce evenly over yams; TOP with layer of miniature marshmallows.
5.
BAKE until marshmallows have melted, about 20 to 30 minutes.
