In a large mixing bowl, COMBINE first 5 ingredients; STIR well.

2.

ADD egg and buttermilk; MIX well.

3.

STIR in raisins and pecans (or walnuts).

4.

Lightly GREASE and FLOUR an 8 x 4 x 3-inch loafpan; SPOON mixture into pan.

5.

BAKE at 350° until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean, about 55 minutes.
