Basic Vanilla Buttercream

BEAT butter and cream cheese at medium speed with an electric mixer until creamy.

DECREASE speed to low; gradually ADD powdered sugar until blended.

INCREASE speed to medium; slowly ADD milk and vanilla; BEAT until smooth.
Chocolate Variety
1.
FOLLOW directions for vanilla.
2.
In a small bowl, MICROWAVE chocolate morsels at medium until melted and smooth, STIRRING at 30 second intervals.
3.
Gradually ADD melted chocolate to vanilla buttercream; BEAT until blended and smooth.
Coconut Variety
1.
FOLLOW directions for vanilla, SUBSTITUTING the 1/4 cup cream of coconut for the 1/4 cup milk.
2.
SPRINKLE each frosted cupcake with coconut flakes.
