In a 3-quart heavy saucepan over moderate heat, COOK chorizo and next six ingredients in olive oil, STIRRING until vegetables are softened, about ten minutes.

ADD broth and beans; SIMMER, partially covered, 15 minutes.

Lightly MASH beans with a potato masher to slightly thicken.

Garnish with chopped cilantro, sliced lemon rounds, dollop of sour cream.
