In a large resealable plastic bag, COMBINE the marinade ingredients; ADD roast; SEAL bag.
TURN to coat roast; REFRIGERATE overnight, TURNING once or twice.
DRAIN and DISCARD marinade.
GRILL roast, covered, over indirect medium heat (350° F) until desired doneness is reached (*see note); CHECK internal temperature with meat thermometer every 15 minutes after first hour of grilling time.
REMOVE from grill; let STAND for 10-15 minutes before slicing.
1. May substitute teriyaki sauce for soy sauce. 2. Internal temperatures: rare--140F, medium--160F, well-done--170F. 3. Alternative method of cooking: Place roast on a rack in a shallow roasting pan; bake, uncovered, at 350F.
